Autumnal Spritz


Sold to a collector from South Dakota

12x9" watercolor in autumn shades and bordering between abstract and realistic treatment of the subject. This is displayed in a 16x20" mat.

This was a lot work to get the layers? Very nice!

Layers were spritzed on over cutout leaf shapes with a toothbrush. Successive layers were negatively painted around positive shapes. Each negative shape pushes the forground up and adds another step backwards. These are relaxing to do, take a few hours, and the end result is always rather ephmeral.
