Some areas of canvas are still bare at this stage and a few areas are scrubbed in with color to give myself a "game plan". Each day when I return to a painting or drawing I look at it with fresh eyes and make my color/textural decisions. I walk away from the work after a few brush strokes and view it from a distance. It is important to me that the overall composition is strong from across a room. Usually my layers of color determine when I decide the painting is complete.
