Our local art guild had an extremely handsome man from Jamaica pose for us and he wore the colors of his national flag. I used these as inspiration for his portrait study.

Parabolic Interstate

Acrylic, 20x30" SOLD
I have always loved the colors of shadows on snow. The serpentine roadways juxtapositioned with the open range and the strong horizontal emphasis of land and sky define Wyoming for me.

Tony

This aging Italian gentleman was challenging because of his unusual beard which was actually under his chin. I chose to draw him on a dark grey paper and work both lights and darks onto the middle value of the paper.

Pastel, 20x26". Alive model posed for this sketch. The image shown is seen part way through the drawing process. The underpainting has been roughed in and the gentleman's wrinkles were just being rendered when the modeling session was ended. I will continue next month when the model returns.
