Pink Pig

4" x 6" acrylic on canvas panel.
This cookie jar sits on my kitchen counter.
I have been trying to paint several of these small
items a week. They go quickly and
still allow me to concentrate on larger items.

Red Grapes and Silver Bowl

Original acrylic, 4" x  6" on canvas panel
While teaching I greatly neglected the production of my own artwork.
I am now trying to get back into my old work ethic
and paint in the studio on a  regular and predictable daily basis.

Danny , preliminary sketch

Acrylic on canvas, 16" x 20"
This month the LAG hired a senior gentleman and posed him as a cowboy. This is the preliminary painting done from observation  in about an hour and a half. I took a few reference photos to share with the guild and will bring this painting more to fruition in the studio.

George in Green

George posed for the LAG again this month. I realized after I started painting that I had not brought any blues and I had only permanent green light. Most of this was rendered in burnt umber, burnt sienna, cadmium red light, yellow ochre & permanent green light. Upon returning to the studio I mixed phthalo blue and burnt umber together to form the darkest darks.

Amy in Rose 2

When the model was ready to leave, I snapped a couple of reference shots to share with my other painters.  That evening I spent another 2 hours in the studio working from the photo reference I took to bring the sketch below further to fruition. Adding the dark to the right of the figure brought out the reflective light on the right of her face to better describe her jaw area.
Acrylic 16" x 20"

Amy in Rose sketch

The Laramie Art Guild invited a live model to pose for use this past week. This is the 16"x 20" sketch I did in 2 hours from the live model.
